“Cheeeeese!”

Mercedes looked down at the little girl who had wriggled herself between her knees.  ”Sam,” she nudged at her husband, “She wants you to take a picture of her.”

The blond looked over at his daughter, who had recently discovered her love of being in front of the camera and laughed.  ”Only because you’re daddy’s little supergirl,” he said, poking her belly.  

Raven wriggled at his touch, never letting her big blue eyes leave her father. “Cheeeeeeeeeeese.”  After the bright LED flash went off, her hands instinctively went from clenching to unclenching.  ”See?” she asked.  ”See? See?” 

Flipping his phone into gallery mode, he swept the little girl up on to his lap.  ”There you go, sweetie.”  She cooed at the picture, immediately handing the phone off to her mother, proud of herself.

“Who is this beautiful little lady, huh?”  Mercedes feigned jealousy and swept the girl off of her daddy’s lap.  ”Who is that?”

The girl giggled and shrieked “meeee!!”

“Is that you, girlie?  Is it?”  She kissed at her daughter’s cheek and smiled over at Sam.  

Sam caught himself wondering, again, when he had gotten so lucky.
